At first this seems really arbitrary, “alive” is “not dead.” “Dead” is “not alive.” But simple definitions do not fly with my intellectual brain that searches for more stuff.
Which brings us to my first equation I thought of. The equation I first thought of was:
If “X” requires “Y”, and after acquiring “Y” “X” now wants “Z”, then “X” is alive.
However, this brings up a large problem. If alive things want other things, then usually non-alive things are now alive, like Youtube. Think about it. Youtube acquires 2 videos every single minute, but still wants more people to be introduced to it. So, in theory, Youtube is alive.
So I rethought of a different equation to apply to all alive things. The equation was:
If “X” turns “Y” into energy, and “X” needs “Y” to continue it’s existence, “X” is alive.
But, again, this still applies to Youtube. Youtube turns electricity into energy and continues to need electricity to make it exist. So, Youtube is still technically alive.
I brainstormed some more equations and the best equation I thought of so far was:
If “X” turns “Y” into energy, and “X” needs “Y” to continue its existence, but “X” is only existent for a limited amount of time before it has to create more things that may or may not be alive, “X” is alive.
But even in that connotation, “X” can STILL be Youtube. Youtube is always under the radar of being taken down or “dying”, and Youtube creates literally thousands of videos every single day just by using electricity, or the energy it needs to survive. So Youtube, again, must be considered a living organism.
So that’s as far as I’ve gotten for defining “alive.” Please continue to add more equations in the comments below. I want to know what the frick “alive” means!!! :D
